Halle Bailey, who played Ariel in Little Mermaid, received a barrage of criticism from fans after sharing pictures of zoo animals on social media.
According to mirror.co.uk, the actress, 23, who was born in Atlanta and portrays Princess Ariel in the forthcoming live-action adaptation of the Disney classic, has left fans feeling “disappointed” following her most recent Instagram post.
Halle posted a number of images from her trips in which she could be seen posing with animals. Many of her admirers claimed that she was in Bangkok's Safari World when she took the photos.
Due to their alleged neglect of animals, the in issue animal attraction has been the subject of intense criticism on a global scale for years.
Halle seemed happy as she posed with orangutans and tiger cubs, the latter of which were reportedly kept in small cages at Safari World, enjoying her holiday before the Little Mermaid movie's debut next month.
When the daily boxing matches were “proudly advertised on the zoo's website” at the time, we reported in 2018 that orangutans were being forced to participate at the Bangkok-based attraction.
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, a nonprofit organisation, remarked on the image with the following statement: “We know you love animals, but sponsoring terrible attractions like this is harming them.
“More than 500,000 exotic animals are exploited by the tourist industry worldwide; many of these creatures are taken from their families, used for picture opportunities, and doomed to a life of pain.
“It's up to all of us visitors to stop supporting destinations that mistreat them and perpetuate this cycle of profiteering. Please don't bring pets on any of your upcoming trips.
Many fans quickly criticised Halle for allegedly visiting Safari World in the comments section of her post, expressing concern for the animals she appeared to be posing with.
