World Cup 2023 Schedule: ICC gave a big update, know when the World Cup schedule will come

Everyone is eagerly waiting for the complete schedule of the ODI World Cup 2023 to be held in India this year. According to a recent statement from Jay Shah, BCCI’s secretary, during IPL 2023, said the home World Cup schedule will be announced during the final of the World Test Championship in London.

Now ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice has given a big update regarding this. According to his statement, the venue and dates are still not fully decided by the host board i.e. BCCI. Still, he has said to release it as soon as possible.

Significantly, the schedule of the 2019 World Cup was released about 13 months ago in April 2018 and the schedule of the 2015 World Cup was released about 18 months ago. But this year’s tournament in India is to be held in October-November. Four months are left and the schedule is yet to be finalized. According to a recent report, the tournament was to start from October 5 and the final match was to be played on November 19. But no official update came on these dates.

When will the schedule come?

According to the report, the schedule of World Cup 2023 might not be revealed to the public till next week. Regarding this, Allardice said that I think the schedule should have been received from the host on Wednesday 7 June. After that, we’ve just got a bit of consultation to do with all the participating teams and broadcasters. Then we will try to release it as soon as possible. When an event is organized, one has to work closely with the host. Many discussions are necessary. There’s a lot of responsibility on a host to deliver a good event, and they’ve got to go through the right checks and balances.

Is the delay due to Pakistan?

A question was also arising whether the schedule is getting delayed because of Pakistan’s latest stance on their unwillingness to come to India. Allardice did not give much detailed information on this. He clearly said that till we get the schedule, I will wait for everything. I hope we will get the schedule in a day or two. Our event team is very experienced. We can only control what is in our control. I think our team is also taking the same approach. The team is working on the information that they have. The moment we have that information, we will start further action on it.
